Adventures In Advertising

Advertising was never just a job for me — it became a lifelong adventure.

When I look back at my journey through marketing, branding, and advertising, it feels less like a traditional career path and more like a collection of stories — experiments, risks, wins, failures, and moments that shaped how I see business, creativity, and people.

That’s exactly what MyLifesMuseum.com is about — documenting the experiences, ideas, and creative moments that built my career in advertising.

Where It All Started: Curiosity Over Credentials

Long before I had a formal degree in digital marketing, I was already experimenting. I was fascinated by why certain brands stood out, why some campaigns worked, and why others fell flat.

Eventually, that curiosity turned into action.

I launched Mascot Agency in St. Louis — and what started as a creative experiment grew into a full-service marketing agency working with startups all the way to Fortune 500 companies. Over time, the agency generated more than $580K in annual revenue, helping businesses grow through branding, SEO, advertising, and creative strategy.

That period taught me something critical:

Advertising isn't just about being creative.

It's about solving problems.

Sometimes that meant designing logos.

Sometimes it meant building websites.

Sometimes it meant helping a business completely rethink who they were.

Every client became another chapter in the adventure. The Guinness World Record That Changed Everything One of the most memorable stops in my advertising journey wasn't for a client — it was for a crazy idea.

The STL Sticker Bus.

What started as a fun community project turned into a Guinness World Record for the most stickers on a bus — 29,083 unique stickers. It became a viral campaign powered almost entirely by social media and word of mouth.

No massive ad budget. No traditional media buy. Just creativity, community, and momentum.

That experience reinforced something I still believe today:

Sometimes the best advertising doesn't feel like advertising at all.

It feels like participation.

It feels like culture.

It feels like fun.

And when you create something people want to be part of, marketing becomes effortless. The Creative Generalist Mindset If there’s one thing that defines my adventures in advertising, it's this:

I've never stayed in one lane.

I've worked across:

  • Branding

  • Digital Marketing

  • SEO

  • Paid Media

  • Social Media

  • Website Development

  • Event Marketing

  • Campaign Strategy

  • Creative Direction

  • Business Consulting

Some people call that unfocused. I call it being a Creative Generalist. And in today's world, that's an advantage.

Because advertising isn't just one thing anymore — it's everything working together.

Why Advertising Still Excites Me

Advertising is one of the few careers where:

  • Ideas matter

  • Creativity drives results

  • Relationships shape outcomes

  • Every day is different

One day you're brainstorming a campaign.

The next you're launching a brand. The next you're analyzing performance data

It's never boring. And that's why I'm still exploring. Still experimenting. Still building.

Still documenting the journey.

MyLife’s Museum: A Living Portfolio - My Life’s Museum isn't just a website — it's a collection of experiences:

Creative projects - Branding work - Marketing experiments - Career milestones - Personal adventures - Ideas that shaped my thinking. Because advertising, like life, isn't linear. It's a series of adventures. And I'm just getting started….

Final Thought

If there's one thing I've learned in my adventures in advertising, it's this:

“ The best marketers aren't just advertisers. They're storytellers. They're problem solvers. They're curious. They're willing to try something different. “

And sometimes…

They're willing to cover a bus in 29,083 stickers just to see what happens.
